At the dawn of the Day of the Dead. Join us for this lecture and slideshow presented by Profesor Jesus Rodriguez, a San Miguel native researcher, and teacher, who is going to introduce us to the traditional celebrations, rituals, and mysticism of “Dia de Los Muertos” in San Miguel through time.

The lecture will be related to the celebrations not only in the urban district but also in the rural area where the "Otomie" Indigenous people have a particular way of celebrating these dates (not only in November) and their sacred spaces, such as chapel and calvaries, and how their offerings were at the beginning of autumn season.

Also, he is going to explain the way the traditional local families observed these events with a lot of solemnity last century.

Finally, Professor Rodriguez is going to provide a timeline of the evolution of this celebration from the past to recent years. Because not always San Miguel has celebrated “Dia de Los Muertos” with a fancy catrinas parade.
